The evolution of calculators in 2021 serves as a testament to humanity's innate curiosity and perpetual drive for technological innovation and enhancement.

Project Background


Through the synergy of technological advancements and human creativity, calculators have evolved into intricate electronic devices, now equipped with a diverse range of functions. Simultaneously, the appearance and functionality of calculators have undergone substantial transformations, adapting to the evolving needs of users.

I have conducted interviews with individuals engaged in various professional and academic disciplines:

  • Students (Trinity College, CT) who are related to mathematical fields

  • Normal office workers (CCA Administration Office) 

  • Officers (Citi Bank Faculty, NYC) in analytics fields


Insights:

Calculators serve as valuable tools for quick mathematical problem-solving and enhanced data accuracy. Nevertheless, heavy reliance on them may lead to a decline in arithmetic skills, prompting a growing desire for more advanced alternatives.
